The federal government has approved the National Capital Authority’s amendment to the National Capital Plan to allow major development around Hume Circle. While proposed building heights have been lowered in response to community objections, the ONCC and local residents remain concerned about the overall impact of the proposed development. As reported by ABC news on 3 August, Independent ACT MLA Thomas Emerson and Senator David Pocock are backing community calls for an inquiry by the Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Territories.
