ACT Housing has plans to demolish two sets of heritage duplexes on Boolimba Cres opposite the tennis courts.Boolimba Cres is listed on the Register of Significant Streetscapes and these Duplexes with their build form and positioning is a vital component of this listing. Bulldozing them and replacing with new build forms with setback of the front courtyards only 700mm from the front boundary will change this link forever.
ONCC Inc has objected to the development and has lodged an appeal at ACAT. It is trying to list the duplexes on the heritage register

Areas of Disadvantage
[gview file=”https://narrabundah.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/abs-map-1.pdf”]The map of Inner South Canberra area was downloaded from Google earth and shows Australian Bureau of Statistics SIEFA Indexes of relative disadvantage at a sub-suburb level. It identifies the areas around sites like Gowrie Court, Stuart Flats and Red Hill Flats as hot spots of disadvantage. It also clearly identifies the residential neighbourhood surrounding the Narrabundah shops (AKA Old Narrabundah) as a pocket of disadvantage in its own right… Quite distinct from the rest of Narrabundah which is relatively well off. Narrabundah as a whole has 20% public housing. This map suggests that Old Narrabundah area would have well in excess of 20% public housing. Housing ACT plans for adding more public housing into an area already overloaded would be making a pocket of disadvantage worse off.

ACAT Appeal
ONCC Inc decided to appeal the decision . After paying the application fee the ACAT T Docs were sent out in hard copy.
The T Docs were scanned and I requested ACAT that they be put on this website. This request was denied as ACAT are adverse to modern technology, they love printers. The excuse was that they were confidential !
